Mr. Dong is a partner specialized in tech law, intellectual property, data & privacy, and cross-border investment. He also manages the firm’s China-outbound practices.
Mr. Dong provides clients with practical solutions in registration, enforcement and licensing of IP rights. His spectrum of IP practice widely covers copyright, trademark, plant varieties, patent, trade secret, commercial IP and anti-unfair competition, in both contentious and non-contentious matters. He has represented clients in a few complex multi-jurisdictional and multi-forum litigations, and negotiated against globally leading companies in many major projects.
Mr. Dong acquired knowledge of various industries in his 16+ years practice, such as TMT, Fin-tech, floriculture, luxury, investment, education, entertainment and games, pharmaceutical, mining and resources. He reviewed numerous mobile applications (APPs), software programs, e-payment tools, e-commerce platforms and other products, for the purposes of data compliance, IP clearance, investment due diligence, government license applications and dispute resolution. Based on these experiences, he is skillful in communicating sensible solutions to corporate executives, product managers and other business functions.
Mr. Dong also assists clients to set up and operate their overseas businesses. He has extensive experiences in managing multi-jurisdictional projects by working with local counsels, tax experts and security advisors in the region of Asia Pacific.
Before join FuJea, Mr. Dong was a Managing Director of a Hong Kong-headquartered consulting firm. Prior to that role, he served as a Senior Legal Counsel with Ant Financial Services Group, overseeing its data-related legal and compliance matters in the region of Indo-Pacific. He also worked at Baker McKenzie’s Hong Kong office as a senior associate for 7 years, where he led the firm’s tier-1 copyright and software-related practices. In the early stage of his career, he was an assistant professor at a leading law school, and a Fulbright Fellow at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.
